TIME magazine recently released its list of the world’s 100 Most Influential People for 2013. It might as well have been called “Jansen’s List of Favorite People Who Have Ever Existed.” The TIME 100 are divided into five categories: Titans, Leaders, Artists, Pioneers, and Icons.
Rounding out the Titans category are hip-hop tycoon Jay-Z and fashion legend-in-the-making Michael Kors.
The poster child for the Artists category is none other than America’s homegirl Jennifer Lawrence, who even scored one of the magazine’s special covers for the issue (which I spent the better part of my Friday afternoon scouring magazine racks at bookshops and drugstores trying to locate; I found it, don’t fret). Other notable entries include comedy writer/actor extraordinaire Mindy Kaling (fist pumps to that), Breaking Bad‘s Bryan Cranston, and Grammy winner Frank Ocean.
TIME‘s Icons selection was too much for me to handle: Beyoncé, Michelle Obama, Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn, Justin Timberlake, Daniel Day-Lewis, and Kate Middleton. Fact: If all of these people were ever assembled in one room, it would explode.
Three power couples are featured on this year’s list: Barack and Michelle Obama, Jay-Z and Beyoncé, and Chinese President Xi Jingping and his wife, folksinger and performing artist Peng Liyuan.
The greatest part about the TIME 100 is that each person on the list receives a personalized write-up by one of his or her contemporaries. How many people can say that Stevie Wonder has written an article about them? Oh yeah, one (looking at you, JT).
