Thanksgiving Playlist- Holidaze jamzz

The air is getting a little crisper, the leaves have changed (well, the few that exist…) and people are pulling out their weekend bags to head home for Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, mainly because it is my one chance during the semester to head back home to the forests of Wisconsin (where the leaves change a little bit more), but also for the nostalgia and overwhelming sent of nutmeg. Before we have visions of sugarplums dancing in our heads, I have visions of pies, warm hues, and family in the kitchen. The season, and special day, to give thanks should fill us with a calm warmth just as these following artists. I have tried to keep it strictly American for this holiday, but, let’s be honest, most good music comes from across the pond. So without further ado, here is my 2012 Thanksgiving mix to listen to around the table or while adorning your sweet potatoes with caramelized apples (yeah…I’m excited).

1. Gary Clark Jr. – Bright Lights

2. Simon & Garfunkel – Homeward Bound   (for the drive/flight home)

3. Crosby Stills Nash and Young- Our House     (for the fact that we all know this is our favorite place to be)

4. Counting Crows- Omaha         (for the fact that we all end up in the most random places to celebrate this holiday)

5. Dillon- Thirteen Thirtyfive         (for dealing the large age range in relatives?)

6. John Lennon- Cold Turkey         (for the day after)

7. Beck- Nicotine & Gravy             (for your smoke break?)

8. The White Stripes- We’re Going to be Friends     (for friends and family)

9. Ray LaMontange- Forever My Friend       (for Ray’s voice alone)

10. Nicole Westbrook- It’s Thanksgiving     (for the fact that it is, in fact, Thanksgiving)

11. Vampire Weekend- Holiday        (for holidaze)

12. Ben Howard- Old Pine       (for fall weather and nature)

13. Bon Iver- Holocene      (for my ode to home)

14. The Tallest Man on Earth- The Wild Hunt     (for those of us who catch our own bird?)

happy holidays!
