Well folks, the time has come around again. The new Taylor Swift album, titled Red, was released yesterday, October 22. You’d think that by now the name Taylor Swift would seem jaded, but this country-turned-pop-turned-countrypop singer continues to wow crowds, sales, and critics each time she releases an album. The fresh out of the studio album has given Swift the title of the ‘fastest accumulation of fifty hits’ on the Billboard Top 100 list. Now that’s a pretty great feat for a 22 year old. Just 36 minutes after the album was released onto iTunes, it popped right up to the number 1 spot. Not surprising due to Taylor’s past record with iTunes number 1 spots.
Red’s collection of 16 songs shows both a familiar and a newer “hip” side of Swift. The peppy vocals on some numbers combined with her characteristic songbird vocals on other numbers create an album that will leave her fans rejoicing and her, well, haters, sneaking the earbuds into their ears.
Red (partly dismantled)…
The soft lyrics complement her sing-songy vocals. Listen to this one while you’re doing homework.
The Last Time (feat. Gary Lightbody)
Gary Lightbody from Snow Patrol truly boosts this song to one of my favorites. If you listen to music before you go to sleep, check this one out.
Everything Has Changed (feat. Ed Sheeran)
The best decision that Taylor Swift ever made to this album was putting Ed Sheeran on it. If you’re as big of a fan of Ed as I am, you’ll want to listen to this. It has also held the number 1 spot on iTunes. A must.
The response to this song has been great. While it’s not my personal favorite off the album, if you want to “dress like hipsters” and looking for a bit of a pump up, this one’s for you.
Six years and one month since the release of Taylor’s eponymous album in 2006, the six time Grammy Award winner has come a very long way; she has become more successful than those music veterans who have been in the business for double the time she has. Though it’s been a busy six years filled with success and too many number one hits and albums to count, it looks like she’s just getting started.
