Get Your Fall [Comfort] On
With the wrath of midterms nearly at its end, most of us are looking for a pat on the back, someone to celebrate with, or…some delicious food to indulge in. Not just any food though, I’m talking about comfort food. The kind that warms our soul after our internal destruction that we have midterms to thank for. The kind that tides us over until the glorious excessive-candy eating-season (Halloween) and the even more glorious eat-until-you’re-as-stuffed-as-what-you-just-consumed holiday (Thanksgiving…my personal favorite).
While we’re all going to be tempted to run to Cream and get the classic indulgence, there are some great options that will not only satisfy your craving for comfort food, but will also get you in the mood for fall and the (delicious) holidays that are just around the corner.
Peet’s has some great seasonal drinks that you can get under 200 calories. If you’re
in the mood for a warm drink try…
Pumpkin Spice Latte w/non-fat milk: 160 calories (Small)
Cinnamon Gingerbread Latte w/non-fat milk: 167 calories (Small)
Peet’s also offers these drinks in a blended version (however, be careful because there are more calories in these because they are only offered in a medium & large!)
Pumpkin Freddo w/non-fat milk: 271 calories (Medium)
Cinnamon Gingerbread Freddo w/non-fat milk: 271 calories (Medium)
***Remember: You can even use your Cal 1 Meal Points at Peet’s!***
Trader Joe’s Speculoos Cookie butter
A seasonal take on the original classic that is peanut butter. This has the consistency of peanut butter but actually has hints of cinnamon and nutmeg, making it taste “reminiscent of gingerbread.” Eat it with pretzels or spread it on wheat/multigrain bread! One tablespoon has 90 calories.
Smart Alec’s Chili
Chili is not only great for a cold day, but the beans and vegetables are satisfying and create a heartwarming seasonal taste.
Grab some oatmeal and sprinkle on some cinnamon and brown sugar. If you’re in a hurry, you can even buy the Quaker Oatmeal multi-packs which come with Cinnamon, Maple & Brown Sugar, and Apples & Cinnamon flavors.
These foods and drinks will keep you a little more content before the heavenly holidays are upon us. Get your fall on!
