I’ll be sure to slip in upcoming event info in the Bay Area, reviews of shows I’ve attended, links to download music and my current personal playlist that’s updated every week!

PORTER GODINSON? After seeing Porter Robinson last Friday at the Fox Theater in Oakland I’ve come to one conclusion, that he is a total tease.  Calm down people, I don’t mean this in the normal “sexual” connotation (although I wish that was the case); rather it is in the fact that he waits forever to drop his songs.  If you don’t know what a drop is, then get on the dubstep train and Google it.  Although I didn’t appreciate this “teasing” when I was at the show, reminiscing about my experience I realized how much of a badass this kid is.  That’s right I said kid; maybe because Porter Robinson is only…let’s see…19 years old! Besides being one of the youngest and most well-known DJs in the electronic scene, he also knows how to get a crowd going like no other DJ I’ve ever seen before.  Maybe the key to the crowd’s enthusiasm was him dropping the overly popular “Levels” by Avicci or mixing in some Daft Punk with the classic “Better, Harder, Faster, Stronger”.  Or, it could have possibly been the guest appearance from fellow artist Penny who sang her famous track “All I Ask of You” which is featured on Skrillex’s album Scary Monsters and Sprites released in 2010. Overall, this show definitely topped my list of favorite performances, not only because Porter Robinson proved his “boss-like” DJ skills, but also because his openers, The M Machine and Adventure Club hands down KILLED IT as well.  Both of these less known DJs tore it up as they spun sick beats including “Collect Call” by Metric, making it a truly memorable show that seriously blew me away!

RAD RELEASES: HOLY CRAP I am totally obsessed with fun.’s single “We are Young”.  It honestly sounds like some sort of epic youthful ballad that justifies acting ridiculous and enjoying life to its fullest before the pressures of the real world affect us. The rest of the album is enjoyable as well, featuring a variety of sounds that have an overall upbeat feel that are totally suitable for your stroll to campus on a beautiful sunny day.  Fun. offers a kind of futuristic vibe that even includes auto-tuning that surprisingly works.  Released on February 21, 2012, their album Some Nights is now available on ITunes.
